Young Communicator Award Winners 2017 Announced at BDEWF Annual Dinner

01 November 2017

The winners of the BDEWF/BDIA Young Communicator Awards 2017 were announced at the BDEWF Annual Dinner at The Royal Air Force Club. They were presented by Sonia Tracey, BDIA President.

This year’s winner was David Westgarth, editor of BDJ In Practice, for an article on Stress and Fitness to Practise in Dentistry, published in BDJ In Practice in March 2017. David commented, ‘I wanted to look at the growing number of Fitness to Practise cases, and one of the main strands resulting from that was stress. The article explores the potential link between the two, and challenges the profession to discuss a taboo subject.’

Second place was awarded to Yasmin Allen, a Clinical Fellow in Leadership at Health Education England, for writing, directing and producing a video in June 2017, promoting the benefits of utilising digital technology and innovation within dental settings, using emergency dental care as an example.
