The winners of the BDIA/BDEWF New Writers Awards for 2021 are:

For Graduate New Writers -

First prize - Charlotte Schofield for her article in Dental Hostorian on the early history of local anaesthesia.

Second prize - Melanie Pomphrett for her article in Dental Health on direct access to dental hygienists in practice: is it being widely implemneted?

For Undergraduate Writers -
Christina Wainer for her article in The British Journal of Nursing on the importance of oral hygiene for patients on mechanical ventilation.

There were 6 entries in this category.

The judges were impressed by this year's entries and the competition was fierce.
